Babblegum Goes Creator Route

Babblegum, a company that has mostly been a P2P platform, has decided to spread its wings into the world of content creation.  The news has not been met with thunderous applause…

PaidContent: While the latest shift, creating a studio, seems like a logical extension of content acquisition plans, it’s a different ball game altogether and the switch from P2P to DVD suggests a business model like the British weather – changeable.

NewTeeVee: With its deep pockets, Babelgum can afford to weather a few storms, but as someone who used to sign and help develop original web content, I believe this initiative has some serious flaws.

Babblegum hasn’t been especially specific in terms of what they are going to make but they’ve mentioned stand-alone shorts and docs.  This doesn’t sound like a genius plan to me.
