ESPN Brings Back SPORTS NIGHT, Kinda.

Kenny Mayne of ESPN ask...

Before “West Wing,” Aaron Sorkin wrote a fantastic, short-lived sitcom called “Sports Night” that I loved. Of course, it got canceled before it’s time but that is the fate of critically acclaimed sitcoms (I’m lookin’ at you “30 Rock“).

Now, from the people who bring you lots of scores and PBA bowling comes a webseries that is actually funny. ESPN, taking advantage of one of its best anchors, Kenny Mayne in a sort of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” for the sports set, “Mayne Street.”

Basically, this is ESPN poking fun at itself and Kenny is leading the way. The pilot is reminiscent of the great ESPN promos with top athletes working in the offices. It’s very well put together, at least in the first episode out, and it will be interesting to see if they can keep it up.

Vodpod videos no longer available.
